I have been thinking about an electric bike; I carry my bike on my motorhome and I currently have a Trek Hybrid (not electric). I am not sure of the model but I bought it from you for £900 I think about 6 years ago. I am looking for some idea of the difference in weight. I cannot find the weight of this bike anywhere. Can you tell me the weight and how this compares with a non-electric hybrid - say the FX3 for example. Also I see it has Schwalbe tyres. Are these puncture resistant? When I got my Trek I had puncture after puncture but, after a couple of months of endless punctures, I bought some Schwalbe puncture resistant tyres and I have not had a puncture since. Thank you for your help.

Hello Graham,
Thank you for your enquiry. After looking up your bike on the system I found that the Trek you bought in March 2014 is Trek 8.6 DS. This bike has a very decent spec on it. I cannot find the weight in the spec sheet anymore but it will be a bit heavier than the FX 3. The weight of the current FX 3 is 11.3 kg (size M). The weight of the current Dual Sport (formerly known as "DS") is 13 kg. The FX range bikes are lighter mainly thanks to the carbon fork on the FX 3 model. also the equipment fitted on the FX range tends to be lighter.
The electric Allant + 7 weighs 21.5 kg. The battery and the motor make it much heavier. As for the tyres, the Schwalbe G One isn't specifically puncture proof but there are ways of minimising the chances of getting a puncture by fitting self-healing inner tubes, etc. Also, if required, we can change the tyres for Schwalbe Marathon Plus.
